Recruiters have seen this line a thousand times. It doesn’t say what you do, what you’re great at, or what makes you different.
Fix: Use a headline that reflects your expertise and value.
2. Responsibilities Instead of Results
“Managed team of 6 and led weekly meetings.”
That’s a job description — not a value statement.
Fix: Focus on outcomes. What changed because you were there?
3. No Keyword Strategy
ATS software scans for keywords related to the job ad. If your resume doesn’t match them, you may never make it to a real person.
Fix: Tailor your resume for each role by matching the job title language, including key tools, skills, outcomes and customising your skills and summary section.
4. LinkedIn Doesn’t Match Your Resume
Recruiters will look you up. If your LinkedIn profile is outdated, inconsistent, or unclear, they’ll move on.
Fix: Align your resume and LinkedIn to tell the same career story. Use a consistent tone, photo, headline, and job summaries.
